I was born in California and raised in the Sierra Nevada mountains, attending high school in Grass Valley and Junior College in Rocklin. Later, I earned a Bachelors in Fine Art at the University of Oklahoma and had my first one man show at Pink's in Norman, Ok. on "The Collective Unconscious". I went on to achieve my Masters of Human Relations at OU.
My art often took a backseat to my counseling profession and the passion I have always had for dogs, showdogs, cocker spaniels.
I finally came to the decision that I would paint only what I wanted to paint, and that was horses-----and a few dogs.
I also was no longer interested in the realism I had always done. Many artists were better at it than I. I am good at drawing, sketching, fast movements. I use paint to draw and often paint with a stick.
TheRed Horse Series is mostly mixed media paintings. The inspiration for the color comes from living in Oklahoma, the Red Earth state. It seems like everything is red here; the dirt, the water, the red oaks and sumak, the red peoples, the prairie grasses, the rocks and the sunsets. But this is just the first stage.
I put the painting into the computer and add algorithms which change the piece by adding outworldly images and colors to the original making the second, third, fourth pieces originals in themselves, and yet these pieces are even more expressive, more contemporary. I call them the "Genesis Reds". They have the feeling of universal archetypes, as if coming from the cosmic gallery.
I would love to hear your comments and feedback.
